WOMEN AGRICULTURE CO-OP
Our Women's Agricultural Cooperative helps to provide supplemental income to the widowed women enrolled in chicken rearing and Chama (a community savings group). The extra income helps to provide basic needs for their families and pay school fees for their children.
CHICKEN/CATTLE PROJECT
The women's chicken rearing project was launched in October 2018 as our inaugural agricultural program for adults through our community center. We helped the women start raising chickens to sell both the chickens and their eggs in the market. The extra income from the chickens helps women to provide basic needs for their families and pay school fees for their children. The profits and the chickens are split equally between the women's group and the Mamasafi School, helping to sustain school operations and provide nutritional meals for our students and the community.

CHAMA

In October 2019, we launched our Chama project where each of the 22 women enrolled in our cooperative participates in this community savings group. Chamas are a reliable source of savings and financial support for women, where they pool money together each month and every month one member receives the pooled amount. This helps to support their personal and family needs, providing a form of micro-financing that encourages investment and planning. The program is designed to be self-sustaining, with the women continuing their Chama cycles independently.
The Women's Cooperation is actively seeking assistance in a variety of forms. We welcome contributions of knowledge, the expertise of educators, innovative ideas, and donations. Your support can help us enhance our programs, reach more individuals, and make a greater impact in our community. We are eager to collaborate and learn from others to continue improving and expanding our efforts. Any form of help you can provide, including donations, will be greatly appreciated.
